Access Platform Inspection Service

What is covered

Access Platform inspection usually moves through the stages below, from a review of documents to a written report. Scope, procedures and test methods are agreed when you request a quotation.

• Documentation review: identification marks, tags, manuals and previous inspection or maintenance records
• Visual condition check of the structure and main components for wear, corrosion, deformation, leaks and damage
• Functional checks of controls, moving parts and safety devices, where fitted
• Load or performance testing, where applicable and where the equipment and the site allow it
• Defects register recording each finding, where it is and a suggested priority
• Written inspection report with the findings and the recommended actions

Typical checks on access platform

These are the points commonly covered by access platform inspection. The list is a guide only; the procedure actually used is confirmed on the quotation.

• Platform, guardrails, gates and structure: condition and damage
• Hydraulic system, hoses, leaks, and tyres or tracks
• Controls, emergency lowering, tilt and overload sensing and other safety devices, where fitted

Who needs this inspection

An inspection record is useful to anyone who owns, hires or relies on equipment such as access platform.

• HSE and project teams whose client or site rules ask for inspection records
• Vendors and rental companies recording the condition of equipment at hand-over and return
• Procurement and asset teams who want a condition record before buying, selling or insuring equipment
• Facilities and maintenance managers planning repairs or replacements

Typical users include contractors, facilities teams and rental fleets that work at height from platforms.

When to schedule an inspection

There is no single schedule that fits every item. These are the occasions when an inspection is usually considered.

• After an incident, overload, impact or any event that may have damaged the equipment
• Before a project phase that relies on work at height from the platform
• Before mobilising the equipment to a new site or project, or before first use after purchase or hire
• At regular intervals set by the manufacturer's instructions, your site rules and the requirements that apply to you
• After a repair, modification, relocation or a long period in storage

What you receive

The standard deliverable of access platform inspection is a written report. Typical contents:

• Inspection report listing the items checked, the findings and the recommended actions
• Defects register with each finding, its location and a suggested priority
• Identification of the unit or units inspected (make, model, serial or tag number where visible)
• Photographs of notable findings, where access and site rules allow

Any certificate, tag or sticker, and the standard or procedure it refers to, depends on the inspection provider and on your site or client requirements. It is confirmed on the quotation and never assumed.

How it works

1. 1

   Request a quotation

Tell us what needs inspecting (for example access platform), how many units and the city or site.

2. 2

   Confirm the scope

We confirm what is covered, the procedures or standards required and the deliverables.

3. 3

   Agree the schedule

Choose a date and arrange access. The equipment should be reachable and, where functional tests are needed, ready to operate.

4. 4

   Inspection on site

The inspection is carried out at your site or yard.

5. 5

   Receive the report

You receive the written report and the defects register as agreed in the quotation.
